Had a meeting at Shueisha yesterday. I couldn’t help but take a moment to reflect before walking in. Thinking about the last time I was there and all that’s happened since. It’s been about 4 years. A long time to prepare and, more importantly, find the balls to come back. But, y’know, I have books under my arm now and the knowledge that I can actually handle a monthly. Go me. Then I pee-ed my pants. No, not really.
Btw, I’m gonna keep this short. So, in short, it was a good meeting. My story clocked in at 60 pages which made me worry about it being too long but the editor didn’t see any problems with. I mostly got comments about it being entertaining and easy to read considering it’s length. I have character motivations to edit and adjust and 1 or 2 scenes of fore-shadowing to add but mostly minor changes. After I iron these things out it’ll (hopefully) be presented to more senior editors where I expect even more changes and after all that (with bucket loads of luck) it’ll then possibly/just maybe see the light of day in print. That’s me being super-optimistic, btw. So, yeah. Fingers crossed, stoked and a little tired but still at it.

sounds like you are ready for Big Time! I am checking the protective sleeves that hold your early work and making sure that I get them authenticated! =)
good luck, my friend~ btw, I know this place!!! it’s rather famous in TW; mainstream manga~ I am so psyched, and it’s not even my pitch! ha..
keep us updated, will’ya?
cheers
Thanks, ming! Yeah, they published Slam Dunk and DragonBall and stuff so it’s hard not to have heard of Shueisha. Still got so much to do and many hurdles to jump but I appreciate the support! Will definitely keep updating here, don’t worry!
Awesome!! So is your new manga a romance or what??
This sounds so exciting!!!
yuri – no not a romance. Going with what I sorta know which is sci-fi.
That’s is great man! I know how much this means to you, I hope your hard work pays off.
Chris – Thanks, man. Hopefully I can read my work at a conbini one of these days. That’s my ultimate goal. Hope to see you in Tokyo again soon!
Good luck Tak. I have my fingers crossed it all works out.
Don – thanks, Don!
